| i'm writing this to spread the word of a huge event that occurred at snowbird (swoutfitters.com - where i'm working this summer). yesterday afternoon, several of our staff drove down to atlanta, GA to go to a braves game. around 1am last night, we received a call that one of the cars had been in a pretty bad accident.
all the staff here who hadn't gone down to atlanta gathered to pray and stayed together until 5am. it turns out that of the 6 people in the car, 4 were killed, while the other 2 were injured but are going to be okay.
please pray for the families of Daniel Branson, Suzanne Cranford, Ashlee Kraft and Michael Mabry, who all died in the accident. pray for Stu and Cara, the two who were injured but survived the accident. hallelujah that our brothers and sisters who didn't make it are in the presence of holy Father God, that their faith has been brought to completion and that they have finally been made into the complete likeness of Christ Jesus.
as a staff, we have been claiming Colossians 1, where we're told that Christ is supreme over all things. for whatever reason, He has ordained each and every individual staff member to be working here this summer, to hold each other up with words of encouragement and prayer and to reach out to the families of those that died.
please pray for Brody, the camp director, as he speaks with the parents of those who died. pray for the other full time staff as they man the phones in the office as churches and youth leaders have been calling, wanting to know what has happened. pray for several people who are coming to help work at snowbird for the next several weeks (old staff, youth pastors, etc.) so that some of the staff here can have time off to pray and rest in the Lord as we mourn over the deaths of our brothers and sisters.
pray for the students that have been through this camp in the past 2 weeks, that these events would not cause them to stumble in their faith, but rather, that it would be strengthened. pray for the students that we will have coming tomorrow afternoon for week 3 of camp. pray that the staff here are able to walk in the Spirit and that God would reveal more of Himself to us and to the students this week through this tragedy. He is supreme in all things. |
